About Us

Founded by Andrew and Daniel Almand, Texas Salt Co. came to life in late 2020, born from a love for creating unique handmade gifts. Before the company's inception, the couple had a tradition of crafting special Christmas presents, including candles, terrariums, and soaps. Their journey into the world of gourmet salts began in 2019 after visiting an olive oil store and discovering smoked salts. Inspired, they decided to make their own smoked salt as that year's Christmas gift.

The enthusiastic response to their homemade salts, especially during the early days of the global health crisis, provided Andrew and Daniel with the perfect opportunity to delve deeper into salt production. They built their own smokers and began experimenting with an array of salts from around the world, leading to the launch of Texas Salt Co.

The company debuted with its signature product, "Cowboy Salt," an award-winning salt infused with garlic and rosemary, smoked over pecan wood for days. The success of Cowboy Salt inspired further product development, including a matching smoked peppercorn for each salt variety and smoked paprika. By 2022, they introduced "Cowboy Bread Dip," their second best-seller, modeled after Carrabba's famous bread dip but uniquely smoked over Texas pecan wood.

Texas Salt Co. started with pop-up markets at the Bandera courthouse and a small corner in Maggie Mae & Nellie Rae. As their business expanded, they moved into a full room in the store, establishing their first retail space. Now, they've settled into their flagship location at 304 11th Street, Bandera, in the historic stone building from 1855. The property now includes both their retail store, manufacturing facility overnight suites and event space.

This new property also houses six themed two-bedroom suites under "The Salt Block," providing a unique lodging experience for visitors. Located in the heart of Bandera, just about under the iconic water tower and within walking distance to everything Bandera has to offer. Check out www.BanderaSaltBlock.com for more info.

Meet them at one of there Third Thursday Sip & Shop events. They keep the community engaged with late-night openings every third Thursday, which include special sales both in-store and online, along with events featuring local vendors and food trucks.

We're always looking forward to what's next, perhaps even a bistro/bakery. We invite you to visit us in Bandera – we're usually around, working on something new, and would love to meet you! Thank you for learning about us.
